Stephen Joseph Theatre (SJT), Scarborough 01723 370541 www.sjt.uk.com.
84 out of 90 of Alan Ayckbourn's play premiers happened here. Two theatres (one in the round - the first in England founded in 1955), and one also doubles as a cinema. There is an on-site restaurant for pre-show dinner. See the website for the vast selections of plays/shows/films on throughout the year

The Spa has the theatre and the grand hall and both venues are extensively used for shows of many kinds. There is also a cafe/bar/bistro on site. There are far too many productions to list so please see the website for what's on this season

Scarborough Open Air Theatre www.scarboroughopenairtheatre.com
This is one of the largest open air theatre in Europe and is the setting for many concerts during the summer season. Big name acts often grace the stage and it is a great night out. See the website for this year's acts

Filey Pop-up Gallery Throughout the season, the gallery hosted by four different artists from 3 generations of family. Lots of different types of art on display. Outdoor area for dogs too www.oliviabeaustudio.com

Annual Events
Malton Food Market - every second Saturday in the month. Specialist food stalls, street food, music and bags of foodie fun
Yorkshire Game & Country Fair
Whitby Fish & Ships Festival
Scarborough Castle - Has special events during the season, often with workshops, dancing, mini archaeological mini digs, tours of the castle and storytelling
Ravenscar Treasure Hunt - The National Trust run events throughout the season from the centre in Ravenscar. Check out the website for more information

Lots of acts through the season
Scarborough Fringe - held in June, featuring theatre, music, comedy spoken word, children's shows and a variety of other events and performances. Some free events and some ticketed in many venues throughout Scarborough. See www.scarboroughfair.uk for more details​
Peasholm Park Naval Warfare - Battle of Peasholm - 1st July-2nd September. On Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, doors open at 2pm, music from 2.30pm and battle at 3pm. Cost £4.50 and £2.50 (adult and child). The boats recreate some serious tensions during the battle. This show has been running since 1927 and uses 20ft battleships (some man-operated from inside). Aircraft now also feature in the battle
Filey Regatta - An annual display from Filey's sailing club, usually held in mid July
Seafest - Scarborough Pier. Music, rides, childrens' activities, stalls and food and drink, all rounded off by a fireworks display on the Saturday night. Held mid July
Cock o' the North - Motorcycle races at Oliver's Mount, Scarborough

Headland Music Festival - August Bank Holiday weekend in Scarborough. Beer and music festival for all the family
Yorkshire Traction Engine Rally - Scampston Hall, Pickering. Traction engines from all over the UK, display of vintage/classic cars, motorcycles etc., motorcycle stunt team, fairground rides and lots for the children, as well as catering​
Scarborough Open Golf Week - Usually held in early September. Founded in 1921 this seventeen competition event is held at four different Yorkshire Coast golf courses
Scarborough Goldwing Light Parade - held in September. Goldwing motorcycles sporting neon lights come from all over the UK. The parade culminates in a firework display in the South Bay at apx. 9pm
