84 out of 90 of Alan Ayckbourn's play premiers happened here. Two theatres (one in the round - the first in England founded in 1955), and one also doubles as a cinema. Scarborough Castle - 26th May 'Big Day Out' with workshops, dancing, mini archaeological mini digs, tours of the castle and storytelling
Ravenscar Treasure Hunt - 26th May on the Cleveland Way. Apx 2 hours of fun for families with children 7+ using National Trust GPS units to discover hidden boxes. Just turn up at the National Trust Centre in Ravenscar 10.30am-2.00pm
Malton Food Lovers Festival - 25th-27th May. A giant celebration, a huge gourmet street party with over 100 stalls and street food vendors, talks, demos etc.

Peasholm Park Naval Warfare - Battle of Peasholm - 1st July-2nd September. On Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, doors open at 2pm, music from 2.30pm and battle at 3pm. Cost £4.50 and £2.50 (adult and child). The boats recreate some serious tensions during the battle. This show has been running since 1927 and uses 20ft battleships (some man-operated from inside). Aircraft now also feature in the battle
Filey Regatta - 13th and 14th July - Annual display from Filey's sailing club
Seafest - 18th and 21st July, Scarborough Pier. Music, rides, childrens' activities, stalls and food and drink, all rounded off by a fireworks display on the Saturday night
Cock o' the North - 20th-21st July - Motorcycle races at Oliver's Mount, Scarborough
Distillery Open Day - 27th July at Spirit of Yorkshire, Hunmanby Masterclasses, pairing, delicious food and live music, as well as tours of the distillery throughout the day. £15 per ticket www.spiritofyorkshire.com

Scarborough Open Golf Week - 1st-6th September. Founded in 1921 this seventeen competition event is held at four different Yorkshire Coast golf courses
Scarborough Goldwing Light Parade - 14th September. Goldwing motorcycles sporting neon lights come from all over the UK. The parade culminates in a firework display in the South Bay at apx. 9pm
