FAQs

  • Can I get my shopping delivered? Tesco, Sainsburys and Morrisons deliver to us from Scarborough and Asda deliver from Middlesbrough. Use the postcode YO13 0ER and state 'Smugglers Rock House'. Please do not have your delivery arrive before 5pm on day of arrival to ensure you are here to accept it

  • Are there places for a large group to eat together/have someone cook in the house? See the 'Places to Eat & Drink' tab

  • What is your wi-fi like? Even though we are in the middle of the countryside, we are lucky enough to have a BT fibre cabinet outside :) We therefore have super fast wi-fi of around 78mpbs and there is coverage throughout the house

  • Can I watch Netflix, Amazon Prime and Now TV? Yes, the smart TV will allow you to use your login details to use the services. Don't forget to log out at the end of your stay

  • What do I need to bring with me for the kitchen? Tea towels, a dishcloth and pan scrub, oven gloves and apron are provided, as well as a supply of washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and washing powder, kitchen roll and foil.  We also provide a welcome pack of local cakes/biscuits, tea, coffee, milk and eggs

  • Is there a coffee machine? Yes, we have a Nespresso Pixie machine, with a supply of pods. There are also two cafetieres for filter coffee

  • What do I need to bring with me for the bedroom/bathroom? Beds are made up for arrival as well as a hand and bath towel per person. There are complementary travel size toiletries (shampoo/conditioner, body lotion, shower cap and soap), and a couple of toilet rolls (always a good idea to bring more with you!). There is an alarm clock and hairdryer in each bedroom

  • Is there an iron and ironing board? Yes, you will find these in the cupboard in the dining room as well as a spare tablecloth, clothes airers, pegs, a cordless vacuum and a mop

  • What facilities do you have for babies/children? We can provide a travel cot, highchair and stairgate as well as a baby bath (as all the-suites have shower cubicles). Please request any of these items at time of booking. We also have plastic cutlery and crockery for children

  • Are there any books/games? Yes, we have a section of books in the lounge (as well as local information leaflets and booklets in the coffee table drawer and in the hallway). We also have a few games (it's always a good idea to bring more, especially if you have children with you)

  • Is there an outside space? Yes, we have a lovely gated patio area with access from the French doors in the kitchen/diner. Cushions are provided in the dining area or in the upstairs drawers. In the summer, there is also a cantilever parasol on the patio

  • Is there a BBQ? Yes, we have a weber kettle BBQ on the patio at the front of the house (tools under the kitchen sink), but we do not provide charcoal or matches. Please leave the BBQ as you find it

  • Can I use candles in the house? Unfortunately no naked flames are allowed in the property for fire prevention purposes and the fire alarm system is extremely sensitive

  • Can I smoke or vape in the house? Sorry, but neither are permitted in the house (even vaping will set off the fire alarm)

  • Can I bring my bike? Yes, but bikes must not be taken into the house at any time. In the corner of the car park, we have an outdoor cycle rack for 8 bikes which is adjacent to a lockable storage shelter for up to 4 bikes. We also have further storage in the outbuilding in the car park (through the wooden door which says deliveries). This will hold up to 4 bikes and has an anchor point with lockable chain supplied. Please advise the number of bikes you will be bringing at time of booking

  • Can I charge my electric car? Yes, we have one charging point (type 2) which must be pre-booked at the time you make the house booking. You will need to bring your own charging lead, and the electricity is charged at cost. Please note; you may have to share the point during your stay if we have another electric car on site at the same time

  • Can I have an early check-in or a late check-out? Unfortunately this is not possible. As Smugglers Rock House is such a large property (with seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms! as well as the common areas), it takes our cleaners all day to get the property up to the standard you would expect to find it in for your arrival. It is therefore important that you do not arrive before 5pm on day of arrival, and that you vacate the house by 9.30am at the latest on departure day

  • Can I have visitors to the house? If you are having day visitors, the total number of people in the house must not exceed 14, and you should have no more than 6 cars in the car park. Overnight visitors are not permitted without prior approval

  • Can I hold my hen/stag party at the house? Sorry, but we do not accept hen or stag party bookings in the house, and these types of bookings will be refused entry, and the money forfeited
